ABOUT ME
The incidence of major depressive conditions such as depression, anxiety, and PTSD among first responders and healthcare providers is all too common. Individuals serving in these professions are being overrun with the weight of those circumstances they must face daily. Having a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, trained in Functional Medicine, and board-certified as a health and wellness nurse coach, I use my combined clinical knowledge and experience to offer an integrated approach to help identify the root causes of these conditions. If not confronted, these stressors, which affect their spiritual, physical, and mental health, evolve into physical and mental conditions that can lead to more debilitating chronic diseases that translate into devastating outcomes in their faith, family life, and career.
Early in my personal life and professional career as a firefighter-paramedic, I learned how my relationship with Jesus Christ would serve as a solid foundation in those storms of my life and career. I grew to understand how my relationship with Jesus established my identity. An identity rooted in Him, not a career or socioeconomic status. My identity gave me value. A value that sustains even my doubt. My value established my purpose, a purpose to serve others so a life may be saved. My purpose established my responsibility. A responsibility to primarily focus on the immediate needs of an individual’s health and well-being, which may provide an opportunity to establish the enduring hope only found in an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Today, I know my responsibility is to serve those who serve others (serve the servant) to help them illicit those pivotal changes necessary to resolve the storms they face.
I desire to partner with clients to assess their lifestyles, address their health concerns, and assist them in developing personalized coping skills and goals rooted in concepts that promote a client-centered vision of health and well-being.
I am committed to establishing client-centered relationships, recognizing that you, the client, are the expert in navigating your own life and providing the structure to serve as a facilitative partner. I will incorporate skills such as active listening, presence, motivational interviewing, reflection, and S.M.A.R.T. goal-setting to assist the client in making sustainable change.
